Purists might be quick to turn away knowing there are vocals throughout, but SHOCKONE and co-producer Metrik do a fantastic job of melding both the acapella and instrumental together to craft a standout track for the masses.
All of the elements are here to get a party raging – filthy basslines, breaks, kicks, and Kyza’s electric lyricism (which should be enough to keep your hip-hop friends off their feet). In fact, it’s playing off the lyrics where “Lazerbeam” really sets itself apart. This isn’t just some rap acapella mixed over an electronic instrumental – the two are part of one another, so it’s really not even fair to describe them as separate elements at all. Kyza’s voice is synthesized as he spits “Lazerbeam” just before the drop, and the bass is quick to play off his flow.
“Lazerbeam” will be released April 16th as part of SHOCKONE’s upcoming debut album “Universus” dropping April 29th (or April 26th if you live in Shockone’s homeland of Australia, or New Zealand). From what we’re hearing so far, it should be massive. Check it out.
